/#TeamVPS: Wen-Shun Chen

Wen-Shun Chen, Kate Chen, Franklin Elementary SchoolFranklin Elementary second-grade teacher

Years with VPS: 2

Most memorable career experience: Useful and appropriate Mandarin materials are hard to find. Last year, I decided to create a Chinese Pinyin dictionary with high-frequency words. On the day I finally presented my finished product, the kids were so excited! They even asked whether they could have one copy at home. It was my most priceless moment.

One thing I’ve learned: You can always improve your teaching, but it is also very important to have a balanced life.

Three words that describe me: Enthusiastic, dedicated, persistent.

When I’m not working, I: Travel, exercise, watch TV or read. I’m always on the road when possible.

Wen-Shun is part of Franklin’s Mandarin Immersion program, which now serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
